On November 15, the No. 7 tunnel of the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed railway was successfully completed. This is the fourth tunnel through the entire line of the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed railway, and the first tunnel to be penetrated over one kilometer, marking another important progress in the construction of the Jabban high-speed railway.
The No. 7 tunnel of the Yawan High-speed Railway was constructed by the China Railway Group Corporation Yawan High-speed Railway Project Manager. The total length of the tunnel is 1285 meters. The tunnel is made of clay, mudstone and andesite. The maximum buried depth is 77.4 meters. Up to 80%, and the buried depth below 30 meters accounts for 93%. Since the start of construction, engineers and technicians have adopted various construction methods such as three-step temporary invert excavation method, three-step temporary transverse bracing excavation method, and CRD excavation method according to the characteristics of the site to ensure the construction progress and construction safety.
To overcome many difficulties such as the new crown pneumonia epidemic and rainy season construction, the project department strictly followed the design and specifications and adopted reasonable construction methods to ensure the smooth completion of the tunnel. Under the situation that Chinese personnel and materials are restricted from going to Indonesia, the project department, based on the epidemic prevention and control and logistical support work, rationally arranged construction, carried forward the spirit of tenacious struggle and overcoming difficulties, and laid the foundation for the completion of Tunnel No. 7 A solid foundation. During the tunnel construction process, the project department also trained more than 260 Indonesian skilled workers and played an active role.
The Jakarta-Bandung high-speed rail project is the “first order” for China’s high-speed rail system, all elements, and full production chain to go abroad. It is also a landmark project of the “Belt and Road” initiative. After the completion of the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed rail, the time from Jakarta to Bandung will be shortened from the current three hours to about 40 minutes.
