On November 6, China’s new generation of low- and medium-speed maglev trains independently designed and developed by CRRC Dalian completed a series of tests before mass production in Shanghai. This means that the model has the conditions for mass production, and the next step will be concentrated production and put on the market.

Steady performance improvement
Aiming at the “short board” of the common technology of maglev trains, CRRC Dalian has made the acceleration, running speed, cornering ability and climbing slope of the new generation of low- and medium-speed maglev trains by innovating the suspension frame structure, optimizing the suspension control, and improving the efficiency of the traction system. Capability, comfort and other performance have been revolutionaryly improved. The vehicle-track coupled vibration problem that has been plagued by low- and medium-speed maglev trains has also been minimized.

Basic train situation
The new generation of low- and medium-speed maglev trains are made of aluminum alloy, three-cars compostion, with cabs at both ends. The whole train is 47.8 meters long, 2.8 meters wide, and 3.7 meters high. The vehicle height is basically the same as that of ordinary subway vehicles. The minimum turning radius is 50 meters, the maximum ramp is 100‰, that is, it can be raised by 100 meters per 1000 meters, and the maximum speed is 160 kilometers per hour.

The new generation of low- and medium-speed maglev trains can meet the needs of urban rail transit at a speed of 160 kilometers per hour and medium capacity provided by multiple standards with one rail transit system, which can meet the modernization, intelligence, and informationization of metropolises.
