How to reduce the power consumption of the subway? What should we do if there is a sudden power outage when the subway is running? Beijing Jiaotong University has successfully independently developed the world’s first urban rail, transportation ground-based hybrid energy storage device, which can not only recycle the braking energy of the train, but also use the energy storage to pull the train to the subway station when the power supply system suddenly fails. And it saves about 1,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity per day for the subway.
This device is called “ground-mounted supercapacitor/battery hybrid energy storage device”. It has passed the grid test at Liyuan Station on the Batong Line of Beijing Metro. It is the world’s first urban rail transit ground-based hybrid energy storage device.
The test results at Liyuan Station on Batong Line show that the energy saving rate per trip can reach 20% when cycling at night. The device saves about 1,500 kilowatt-hours of electricity per day on weekdays and about 900 kilowatt-hours of electricity per day on weekends. If calculated by saving 1 kilowatt-hour of electricity and reducing 0.977 kg of carbon dioxide, the device will reduce 1.46 tons of carbon dioxide per day on weekdays and 0.88 tons of carbon dioxide per day on weekends.
